ToolPorch / Privacy
Privacy Policy
Effective August 19, 2026
The short version
What you type into our tools — student names, birth dates, rosters, prices, break schedules — is processed entirely in your browser and never transmitted to us or anyone else. Tools that "remember" things (saved class lists, your school-calendar breaks, meter settings) store them in your browser's local storage, on your device, where we cannot read them. Clearing your browser data erases them.
What we do collect
- Basic usage analytics. When a page loads, a tiny first-party beacon records that a real browser visited that page (hostname, path, referrer). It carries none of your tool inputs and no names. We use it to see which tools people actually use.
- Server logs. Our hosting provider (Cloudflare) processes standard request data — IP address, user agent — to serve and secure the site, as every website's host does.
Microphone access (noise meter)
The classroom noise meter asks your browser for microphone permission so it can measure loudness. Audio is analyzed on your device in real time and immediately discarded; it is never recorded, stored, or transmitted. The microphone stops when you pause the meter or leave the page. You can revoke the permission at any time in your browser settings.
Advertising
Regular pages may show ads served by third-party ad networks (such as Google AdSense). Ad networks may use cookies or similar identifiers to serve and measure ads, including personalized ads where permitted; you can opt out of personalized advertising at Google's Ads Settings. Fullscreen tool mode never contains ads. We do not pass your tool inputs to ad networks — they never leave your browser in the first place.
Children
ToolPorch is built for adults — teachers, clinicians, and makers — and is not directed at children. Classroom tools are designed so that no student data ever reaches us: rosters stay on the teacher's device.
Your choices
- Clear saved lists and settings any time by clearing your browser's site data for toolporch.com.
- Use the tools with the network disconnected — they work offline once loaded.
- Questions or requests about this policy: [email protected].
Changes
If this policy changes, the effective date above changes with it. We will never quietly start collecting the tool inputs this policy promises stay on your device — a change like that would mean rebuilding the tools themselves, and we won't.
